Electricians, Designers, Architects or People Wanting a Career Change LISTEN UP!!!
You can now advance your skills in lighting design to a professional level without having to give up work time or relocate to Auckland.
The IES-accredited lighting course at Massey University’s Albany campus has been adapted to fully online learning for 2021 and brings a university level qualification in easy reach.
The course runs for two years, and students can complete their work online and in their own time. The paper will be taught primarily through pre-recorded lectures, lab demonstrations and online notes, but students will continue to engage with lecturers as before.
Those that succeed gain a Graduate Certificate in Science and Technology (Lighting) and eligibility to join the Illumination Engineering Society of Australia and New Zealand (IESANZ) as a technician member.
What is a lighting designer, and where could it take me?
Lighting Designers design and plan lighting and electrical systems, they work in collaboration with a variety of professionals, including interior designers, engineers and architects. The lighting design can be for residential, commercial or industrial spaces.
A Lighting Designer usually works under limited supervision but as a member of a collaborative team. They typically work for lighting companies, architecture or interior design firms and service clients, but sometimes they work for a large venue and are in charge of designing lighting for the venue’s events.
